Man stole wallet left at ice cream counter in the shopping centre

A Craigavon man who stole a wallet was given a combination order of probation and community service last Wednesday at the local court.

He was 24 year old Francis Coleman, of Deans Grange, Moyraverty, Craigavon, and he admitted the theft of a wallet on December 13 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a constable on May 3 this year and breach of a probation order.

Coleman was sentenced to a combination order of 18 months on probation, with the conditions set out in a pre-sentence report, and given 40 hours community servce.

A fine of £25 was imposed for the breach of the probation order and he was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on December 13 police received a report of the theft a wallet at Rushmere shopping centre where man had left it on an ice cream counter.

It was located in Dunne’s Stores and the defendant was seen on CCTV walking from the ice cream counter to the store.

On May 3 police responded to a call where the defendant had caused damage in a property. He threw a chair at police.
