Man threatened to kill his wife

A Coleraine man, who spent time in prison after he inflicted a horrendous catalogue of abuse on his wife, has been in court for threatening to kill her.

Alister John Henry (47) was sentenced to two years in prison in May 2008, but was released just before Christmas last year.

The terms of his release stated that he was to have no contact with his wife.

Henry appeared before District Judge, Richard Wilson, at North Antrim Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.

He is charged with threatening to kill Mrs Henry, harassing her and making attempts to damage property belonging to her at her Sprucefield Drive home in July.

Barrister for Henry, Francis Rafferty, told the court that “it was no surprise” that Mrs Henry, who has reverted to her maiden name Cameron, had withdrawn her statement about the incidents in July.

The PPS asked for the case to be adjourned for two weeks to allow a file to be completed.

Henry will re-appear at North Antrim Magistrates’ Court in Coleraine on August 25.
