Man took lemonade from shop during disturbance

After causing a disturbance in a shop a drunken Lurgan man took two bottles of lemonade and left without paying for them.

Kevin Anthony Seeley (30), whose address was given to the court as Pinebank, Craigavon, admitted the theft of the lemonade, valued at £1.50, from Green’s store, Taghnevan Walk, Lurgan.

He was fined £150 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on May 1 this year at 3pm Seeley was causing a disturbance in the store.

He was escorted by police from the store.

He lifted two bottles of lemonade and placed them outside without making payment.

He continued to cause annoyance.

Seeley was extremely intoxicated and was not fit for interview until the following morning when he made a full admission and showed remorse.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said Seeley had a lot of alcohol taken and he behaved inappropriately.

He took the lemonade as a mixer with the alcohol.
