Man urinated outside Council HQ: Court

A LOUGHGIEL man has been bound over for two years on a sum of £200 after police officers spotted him urinating in the middle of the road outside Ballymoney Council's Riada House headquarters.

At North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine on Wednesday 22-year-old Joseph Alexander McNicholl of Scally Park admitted a charge of indecent behaviour in a street.

A prosecutor said a police patrol saw the defendant standing urinating in the middle of Charles Street at 3am on Sunday January 17 this year in full view of a nearby chip shop where people were present and when approached he ran from police.

A defence lawyer said his client remembered very little about the incident because he had been drinking but he is very embarrassed by his actions.

He said unemployed McNicholl only ran a very short distance before stopping in his tracks.

Sentencing the defendant, District Judge Richard Wilson, said: “If you do something stupid like this again you will lose that 200 and be punished for anything you do again, so stay out of trouble.”
