Man was carrying substance in bag

A £120 fine was imposed on a Lurgan man last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for possession of herbal cannabis on November 4 last year.

Darren Hughes (23) Garland Crescent was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

A police foot patrol in Albert Street saw the defendant who produced a see through bag with a green substance inside. The cannabis had a street value of £25.

The defendant’s solicitor said he was a young man who had difficulties in the past centred around alcohol issues.

He added that Hughes was now in employment and seemed to be getting his life back on track. The cannabis was for his own personal use.
