Man was disorderly at Lammas Fair

A BALLYCASTLE man who was intoxicated at the Lammas Fair and was swearing in front of children has been fined £350 for disorderly behaviour.

Paul Ward (41), unemployed joiner of Stroanshesk Park, came to police attention at Market Street on August 24 last year, North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine was told last Wednesday.

A prosecutor said police heard the defendant and another male swearing and there were children nearby.

Defence barrister Francis Rafferty said it was a “classic storm in a teacup”.

He said Ward had taken some alcohol and said police approached and poured the drink out.

“As minor an incident you could not imagine,” he said.
