Man was involved in fighting outside a bar in Banbridge

While residing in Banbridge a 24-year-old man became involved in a fight outside a bar in the early hours of the morning.

Thomas David Finn, Lawnmount Crescent, Lambeg, admitted disorderly behaviour on December 27 last year outside Harry’s Bar.

The court heard that at 1.45am two people were involved in the fight at Church Square and CCTV showed the defendant acting aggressively and getting involved in the fight.

A solicitor representing Finn said he had been released from prison two weeks ago after serving a sentence for a racially aggravated assault.

He explained that the defendant had been living in Banbridge at the time of the disorderly offence but had little recollection of what happened because of alcohol.

The solicitor said Finn had a problem with alcohol and drugs and might benefit from a pre-sentence report.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said that given the defendant’s age and recent history a report would be necessary. He adjourned sentencing until August 18 for a probation report.
