The court heard that on June 27 Bennett was stopped while driving on the Banbridge Road, Waringstown. Checks revealed there was no valid insurance or test certificate in place.

A defence solicitor said he had purchased this vehicle as a ‘fixer up’ and kept it in his mother’s garage.

She explained that Bennett moved to live with his girlfriend and his mother asked him to move the car to free up space in the garage. He was doing that when he was stopped.

The solicitor said he had fixed up the car and had insurance and test certificate.
