Man was struggling to stand upright

Police who saw a Lurgan man struggling to stand upright suspected he was under the influence of an illegal substance, Craigavon Court heard last Wednesday.

Paul Robert Benson (23) Glenavon Crescent was fined £150 for unlawful possession of a class C drug, Diazepam, on May 6.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that at six in the morning they saw the defendant in the Craigavon area. He was struggling to stand upright and his speech was slurred. They suspected he was under the influence of a substance.

He had in his possession two green tablets which were Diazepam. Benson had little recollection of what happened.
