Man who died in road crash is named

THE man who died in a tragic accident at Lurgan’s Antrim Road was Gerard Shaw from Parknasilla Way in Aghagallon.

Mr Shaw, who was in his 50s, had moved to the Aghagallon area from County Down. It is understood he was originally from the Newcastle area.

Police in the Collision Investigation Unit have asked for witnesses who may have seen the crash to come forward.

The one vehicle collision involving a silver Isuzu Trooper, occurred around 11.20am on Wednesday, February 20.

At the time a woman who lives close by said she heard a bout of acceleration followed by a thud.

It is understood the man died at the scene. A police Land Rover and an ambulance vehicle screened off the vehicle to the passing public.

A funeral service was held for Mr Shaw at Roselawn Crematorium on Saturday.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them. They are particularly keen to hear from two pedestrians who were in the area at the time. Police at the Collision Investigation Unit in Steeple can be contacted on 0845 600 8000.
