Man who lost wallet thanks helpers

A BROUGHSHANE man who lost his wallet while in Ballymena last Thursday afternoon says he has been touched by the help he received as he tried to find it.

John McConaghy said he only noticed the wallet was missing from his pocket when he went to pay for something in a shop.

“It must have fallen out of my pocket and when you’ve dropped something like that you just think you have no hope,” he told The Times.

The 64-year-old from Raceview approached a female traffic warden for assistance and she helped him retrace his steps in the hope of finding the wallet.

When that wasn’t successful, said John, she radioed an alert about his plight and then very kindly drove him home where he was later called upon by the police who returned his wallet.

“I just want to thank the traffic warden - I don’t even know her name but she went out of her way for me. Also, the person who handed my wallet in and the police who delivered it right to my door,” said John.
