Man who was knocked down near Glenavy suffers serious injuries

A 51-YEAR-old pedestrian is suffering from what have been described as ‘serious’ injuries after he was knocked down on the Moira Road between Moira and Glenavy shortly after 5.50pm on Tuesday evening.

Police say the man was struck by a blue Volkswagen Passat and there were no arrests.

They say the circumstances of the collision are still under investigation and have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

A section of the Moira Road where Main Street Glenavy meets Moira Road was closed and traffic diverted through the village for some time after the accident.
