Man whose body was found in NI town is named locally

The funeral is to take place of a man whose body was found in an NI town at the weekend.

Police said the man’s body was discovered at Garvaghy Park, Portadown in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He has been named locally as Dennis Berry from Garvaghy Park.

Requiem Mass for Mr Berry will take place tomorrow morning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “A post mortem is due to take place to determine the cause of death.

“There are no further details at this stage.”

Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Duffy said his thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.

Mr Berry was the son of the late Stephen and Annie and brother of Ann, Gwen, Jacqueline, Sharon, Jean and the late Stephen and Rachel.

Requiem Mass will be on Tuesday in the Church of St. John The Baptist Drumcree at 11am. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

The funeral director has said: “House and funeral are strictly private due to ongoing pandemic. Those wishing to pay their respects to Dennis can do so on the driveway into the Church on Tuesday morning.”
