Marathon boost for Eamon McIntyre Fund

CONGRATULATIONS to who completed the Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday and raised the fantastic sum of £5,800 for a very worthwhile charity

Taking part for the Eamon McIntyre Trust Fund, the volunteers donned their white T-shirts and braved the 29th Belfast City Marathon course, a first for everyone in the group.

Regardless of whether they took part in the gruelling 26.2 mile full marathon, the relay stages or the walking event getting through the pain barrier was a challenge that everyone achieved.

All the participants had a really great experience and can look back with pleasure now that all the aches and pains have eased especially John Bradley, Phelim Brolly, Harvey Webber, Kevin Mc Quillan and Ryan Bellingham who all completed the full marathon.

The team of twenty-nine was made up of family and friends of Eamon McIntyre, the young man tragically killed in December 2008.

The runners were from Ballerin, Rasharkin, Coleraine, Ballycastle, Dunloy and Limavady. The group’s participation in the event was organised by Paula, Kieran and Susan Marie Tully.

A spokesperson for the McIntyre family thanked the organisers and participants.
