Marine Hotel for sale 'as going concern'

THE owner of Ballycastle's Marine Hotel has announced the landmark building is for sale as a "going concern" and stresses it is business as normal for any up and coming functions.

Mervyn McAllister told the Times: “I have taken the decision to place the Hotel on the market really due to the commitment involved in running such a business.

“I am primarily a house builder and thankfully have seen increased sales activity over the last few months on several of our housing sites throughout the province.

“I find that there are simply not enough hours in the day to devote to running both these enterprises. I have therefore taken the decision to sell the hotel and concentrate on my construction business.

“I am keen to stress that it is business as normal for any up and coming functions and that they will not be affected as the hotel is for sale as a going concern,” said Mr McAllister.

The Chairperson of Moyle Council, Cllr Cara McShane, hopes the hotel can go from “strength to strength”.

She told the Times: “What is required in Ballycastle is a top class quality service provider. The town needs a hotel and the Marine is on a prime location with huge potential.

“It sits in an area with many natural attributes and is the gateway to Rathlin, the Glens and the rest of the north coast. It has huge potential and I hope the business can go from strength to strength,” said Cllr McShane.
