Market proposal ‘good for economy’

A COUNCILLOR is calling for Moyle Council to consider making the former ‘Playtime’ building at Bayview Road, Ballycastle, available to the Chamber of Commerce for markets over the winter until such time as the premises are leased out.

Markets are currently held once a month at the nearby seafront area but Independent representative Padraig McShane says with the winter on the way moving indoors would be a way of keeping the market alive during the colder/wetter months.

“The market is a popular attraction in Ballycastle and if moving it indoors keeps people coming to the seafront during the winter it will be beneficial to the local economy,” he told the Times.
