Market returns to town centre

CARRICKFERGUS Chamber of Commerce is promising a “bigger and better” farmers market for the town.

Saturday 26 March will see the return of the attraction to Market Place featuring local producers and businesses.

And according to the Chamber, a local operator has been appointed to manage the facility and ensure stall holders meet strict criteria on their produce and on health and safety issues.

Janis Smyth, business development manager with the Chamber, said: “Farmers markets are all about bringing local produce to local people.

“We want the people of Carrickfergus and its visitors to experience what the borough has to offer in terms of fresh produce as well as attracting them in to the other shops in the town.”

Mouth-watering delights such as fresh fruit and vegetables, quality meats, fresh fish, speciality breads, cheese, olives, jams and chutneys, American relishes and Indian sauces, cookies, Belgian chocolates, fudge and crafts will feature.

Markets are scheduled on the last Saturday of each month from 26 March to 30 July (9.00am to 4.00pm).

Janis added: “I would encourage everyone to come and enjoy this fantastic shopping experience.”
