Marriage brought Malcolm to Banbridge

Malcolm came to Banbridge from Portadown after his marriage to Miss Barbara Davidson.

As a young man he attended the Hart Memorial and Clounagh School and then Portadown College before going on to Jordanstown for business studies.

Son of the late Noah and Gladys McCoo, Malcolm helped his father in Irwin’s Bakery, travelling about with him in the van, so it wasn’t surprising that Malcolm later joined the firm , going on to become a supervisor.

An ardent supporter, Malcolm enjoyed watching Liverpool Football Club.

He enjoyed rugby and cricket, encouraging and coaching young hopefuls in both sports at Portadown Rugby Club.

His main interest, however, was centred around his home and family and he was a member of First Presbyterian Non-Subscribing Church, Banbridge. Malcolm is survived by his wife Barbara, son Andrew, mother-in-law Eva, brother-in-law Alan and sister-in-law Joy. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The well attended funeral took place from Malcolm’s home at Meadow Bank for a service in First Presbyterian Non-Subscribing Church, the Rev. Norman Hutton officiating at the home, church and graveside.

The hymns ‘Immortal Invisible God Only Wise’ and ‘What a Friend We Have in Jesus’ were sung; Miss Maud Boggs presided at the organ.

Interment took place in the New Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Macmillan Nurses.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
