Mary’s daughter Beth is a primary one pupil at Tìr na nOg Primary School. She has autism and requires a one-to-one classroom assistant.

Mary is delighted that Beth is cared and provided for so brilliantly by the staff of the school. She commends them very highly for the work they do with Beth on a daily basis.

Similarly, she said the staff at Kilbride Playgroup did a fantastic job in helping Beth to develop prior to her transition to primary school. It was for these reasons that Mary decided she would donate the sponsorship proceeds to the school and playgroup.

After only a few weeks of asking local people for support, the total had grown rapidly. By the time the event took place of Saturday, June 24, Mary had raised an impressive £1,600.

Mr Mullan, principal of Tìr na nOg Primary School, said: “Mary is a very brave woman who loves her daughter greatly and is simply delighted to see her grow and develop in such a happy environment. Beth is a fantastic P1 girl and she has a wonderful relationship with her assistant, Nikki. The money she has raised will help to buy some wonderful new resources to support the children’s learning and we are very thankful.”
