In total, the organisation handed over £4,727 to deserving organisations across the Larne area.

In October last year, the lodge organised a “Pretty ‘n’ Pink” Black Tie Cabaret Evening during which £3,227 was raised.

Pretty ‘n’ Pink was founded in 2006 by Noleen Adair and is the only registered breast cancer charity in Northern Ireland.

The charity’s aim is to create awareness of breast cancer in Northern Ireland, especially in young women.

All funds raised go directly back to breast cancer patients and their families in Northern Ireland.

The organisation also provides funds for patients who do not meet the criteria for any other public or charitable funding, improving the quality of life of breast cancer patients and their families.

The Lodge would like to extend its special thanks to Brother Spencer Allen for his hard work and the time he dedicated to organising the event.

In January 2015, the lodge donated £1000 to the “Teddies for Loving Care” (TLC) Appeal.

TLC’s appeal involves Freemasons providing teddy bears and soft toys to Accident and Emergency units which medical staff can give to children who are in severe distress to alleviate stress. The children can then take the teddies home with them.

To date, two million teddies have been donated.

Also in January, Olderfleet Masonic Lodge presented two cheques for £250 to St Anthony’s Primary School and Olderfleet Primary School.

The funds are intended to purchase reading materials for each school.

Each book bought will be stamped with the words “Presented to St Anthony’s Primary School /Olderfleet Primary School by Olderfleet Masonic Lodge 501”. The Lodge is aiming to provide funding for two local schools to purchase new reading material each year.
