'Massive loss to sport'

BOWLS Armagh Zone convenor, Flo McNally, has described the death of Michael Catney as a 'massive loss to the sport'.

"His passing is a massive loss to the sport following so many years of tremendous service.

"He was extremely hard-working and passionate about bowls.

"He devoted a lot of time to the promotion of the game at junior level and loved working with younger players.

"Certainly he provided invaluable assistance and advice on a personal level in my role as Armagh Zone convenor."

The chairman at Eire Og GAC John Brennan also paid tribute to what he described as a 'great asset'.
