Most people will be familiar with the name of Maud even if they do not know her personally – though she has distant relatives connected with the church.

Maud is a member of Molesworth Presbyterian church in Cookstown and has been a missionary nurse in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 1968.

Her name hit the headlines of our television screen last January when she survived an attempt on her life when armed bandits invaded her home and opened fire – a bullet being lodged in her shoulder.

She returned to Northern Ireland in February 2015 and has made quite a good recovery. Since then she has spoken widely about her life and work as well as her near death experience. Her inspiring story has won her the Belfast Telegraph ‘Women of the year award’

She is a person of great faith and courage and is planning very soon to go back to the Congo to clear the name of those whom she believes are falsely accused of her shooting.

It is a very great honour and privilege to have Maud share her faith and vision at Kilraughts and all will be welcome on Sunday 4th October at 7.30pm.
