With less than two weeks to go before Christmas, the Mayor, Councillor Billy Ashe, is urging people across the borough to ‘think and shop locally’.

“I have enjoyed doing my Christmas shopping across the borough, especially in our large towns of Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne,” he said.

“We have a wonderful range of shops and I am pleased to spend locally and support our own traders as much as possible. I would like to encourage everyone to do the same.

Parking is widely available across the borough for the heavily discounted rate of £1 for up to five hours,” Councillor Ashe added.

He pointed out that Mid and East Antrim Borough Council supports many initiatives with local trade associations and organisations throughout the year and is particularly conscious that the weeks up to Christmas are vital for many local retailers.

“Buy locally across Ballymena, Carrickfergus, and Larne and help to retain the excellent services we have locally,” urged Mayor Ashe.
