“If local Twitter users really get behind this campaign and get the hashtag trending it has the potential to be a really valuable marketing tool for local businesses.

“I think the city has so much to offer visitors at the moment in terms of tourism, and we just need to get the message out there to a wider audience. I would urge all local organisations to schedule in their Tweets about what’s happening and all that’s exciting and unique about Derry every Wednesday.

“Hopefully we can build on the campaign and collectively raise awareness about Derry to the benefit of everyone.”

The campaign has been started by Ashbrook House, which is one of the city’s oldest buildings located on the outskirts of the city, and a popular wedding venue and tourist attraction.

Anyone who has an event or business can post details on Twitter using #derryhour each Wednesday evening between 9pm – 10pm.
