The Mayor said: ”I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Dromara Cycling Club and to all its Members who have already signed up to this fantastic cause.

“I am really appreciative that £5 from each entry will be donated directly to my Mayoral Charity. Stepping Stones has enjoyed great support and I think this is because the Charity really strikes a chord with people. The training programmes in place to help young adults with a learning disability develop new skills, builds confidence, expands social skills and gives individuals a real place in society. This is so beneficial to the trainees as well as to their families. I am indebted to the many people and organisations from all walks of life and from all parts of Lisburn City who have come together and helped me help this local Charity.”

Official sponsorship forms are available from the Mayor’s Office and these can be obtained by contacting T: 028 9250 9331 or by emailing [email protected]

Martin Grimley from Dromara Cycling Club added: “We are hoping for a great uptake for the Coastal Leisure Cycle this year. It is a picturesque route along the County Down coast and is suitable for a wide range of cyclists. The riders then enjoy lunch in the backdrop of Strangford before setting off back for home. Dromara Cycling Club is proud to work in partnership with Lisburn City Council to raise funds for the Mayor’s chosen charity, Stepping Stones. The club would also like to thank ChainReaction Cycles who will provide a backup vehicle for the riders.”

Pre-registering for the Charity Coastal Leisure Cycle is possible by visiting the dedicated website www.dromaracc.co.uk.
