Mayor expressees Jubilee delight

“I attended as many local celebrations over the Jubilee Weekend as my diary allowed, and I was so impressed with the quality and variety of the events and how they were organised,” said Mr Leathem.

“I would like to offer my congratulations to the community event organisers as I do understand the extent of work involved and the time commitment required for such things, and everywhere I went I was welcomed warmly and really enjoyed myself,” concluded the Mayor.

Councillor Thomas Beckett, Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee, added: “I am delighted that the Council was able to provide funding for many of the Diamond Jubilee Community events. The weather was perfect over the Jubilee weekend and it was great to see community groups, families and children enjoying their own festivities.”
