Mayor helps out at Dunclug spring clean
First Citizen, Councillor Billy Ashe joined members of the Dunclug Park Residents’ Association to remove litter around the estate in a bid to make the area look spic and span during a clean-up which also saw the Council liaising with the environmental charity ‘Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’.
Councillor Ashe said: “The Dunclug estate itself is generally well managed but there are still small pockets within the estate where more can be done and it is these hot-spots that we tackled on the day of the event.”

Hide AdCouncil facilitated the event overall to include Operations Services providing bags, gloves and other necessary equipment, such as litter pickers and then collecting and removing waste.
Councillor Ashe added: “Mid and East Antrim Borough Council also provided advice to residents on the use of kerbie boxes, how to arrange free bulky collections and on the use of waste recycling centres.
“It is very much a combined effort between Council and residents that aims to keep Dunclug as clean and tidy as possible.
“We will be carrying out and also encouraging other residents groups or individuals to get involved in such clean ups on a regular basis and welcome suggestions of other suitable locations.
“We also encourage residents to report any illegal dumping incidents such as fly tipping to Council,” the Mayor concluded.
