Mayor highlights latest big achievements in the borough

THE PAST month has been a successful one for Ballymena in many areas and at the January meeting of the Borough Council, last Monday night, the Mayor, Cllr James Currie extended his congratulations to all those who attained success in their respective fields...

* Councillor Tommy Nicholl on his appointment to the Northern Local Commissioning Group.

* Mobile car valeting firm, Total Perfection, on securing the tender for its services to the Top Gear Live event in Dublin.

* Wrightbus for being awarded the contract to supply eco-friendly double decker buses to London.

* MBE recipients in the New Year’s Honours List - Jim Stewart (chairman of the Northern Health Trust), Sally Gamble (Gracehill and Galgorm Community Playgroup leader) and Robert Coulter (MLA).

* The RBL Poppy Appeal on amounting a record breaking sum of funds in 2009, during which the largest contribution came from folk in County Antrim.

* Ballymena Academy pupils who were honoured at a province-wide event for their hat-trick of GCE successes.
