Mayor ‘inspired’ by Adrian’s work for charity

Adrian Craig was invited to a Mayoral Reception in recognition of his work signing up bone marrow donors.

Mayor Duddy was pleased to welcome and recognise the work Adrian has done.

He said: “Adrian has done remarkable work for those in need bone marrow transplants.

“His dedication to raising awareness has been recognised most recently by Prime Minister David Cameron, who bestowed a ‘UK Point of Light Award’ to Adrian.

“‘Points of Light’ recognises outstanding volunteers who are making a change in their communities and inspiring others. It is a prestigious award which Adrian whole-heartedly deserves for he has certainly changed the lives of many through his work, encouraging others to join the ‘Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Register’.

“I believe it is very important to support and encourage those within our communities who go out of their way to help others have the gift of life. Meeting individuals like Adrian is inspiring and I’m extremely happy that Adrian has been rewarded for his own efforts and wish him continued success with the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow organisation.”

Later this month, Coleraine Borough Council will host an ‘Organ Donation Commemorative Event’ on Wednesday 15th October 2014 in Causeway Hospital, Coleraine at 2pm.

This event will commemorate those within the Borough who have given the gift of life through donating organs whilst also highlighting the excellent work that Causeway Hospital carries out in this field.
