Mayor joins schools as they enjoy expert printmaking workshop

Cllr. Ashe was in attendance when pupils from St Louis Grammar School, Ballymena took part.

The Mayor said: “Just weeks before the opening of the North of Myth, North of Home exhibition, Mid-Antrim Museum was keen that secondary schools had the opportunity to take part in creative workshops.

“It was great to see the printmaking in action and to meet both local artist, Maurice Orr and Canadian artist, Joyce Majiski in advance of their forthcoming exhibition,” he said.

Joyce Majiski set the scene for the pupils through a short presentation about her home in the town of Whitehorse, Yukon.

This was followed by a practical monoprint workshop with the chance for pupils to make their own prints with Joyce and Maurice.

Cullybackey College and St Patrick’s College, Ballymena also took the opportunity to get involved in further expert-led printmaking workshops later that same week.
