Mayor launches volunteering awards 2014
The work of volunteers and volunteering organisations from the Lisburn City Council area will be acknowledged at a gala awards ceremony at Lagan Valley Island in June.
The deadline for nominations is Friday March 21.
Speaking at the launch, the Mayor, Councillor Margaret Tolerton, said: “I am really looking forward to the Mayor’s Awards for Volunteering as I think it’s a fantastic event and showcases the best of our volunteering groups and people who really put themselves out there to help in the community.

“All aspects of community life benefit from volunteers.
“It’s our way of saying thank-you to all the worthy volunteers in the community and the 2014 scheme is now open for nominations.
“So, if you are aware of any group or individual who you think deserves recognition, please get in touch with the Bridge Community Centre to receive a nomination form or download one from the Council’s website - www.lisburncity.gov.uk - and make sure you return your completed form by Friday March 21.”
There are five awards categories.
Nominations for each category will be accepted from individuals, community/voluntary and statutory representatives.
