Following a £100,000 investment by the former Newtownabbey Borough Council, the extension and refurbishment work has transformed the centre, which now boasts a new kitchen, toilet facilities, storage facilities and two additional meeting rooms.

Speaking at the event, the Mayor commented: “I am delighted to open this fantastic new extension today which is part of a centre that has been at the heart of this local community since it first opened in 2006.

“The investment made by the council has helped to create a modern, fit for purpose building that both the council and the community can be proud of. This is now a top class venue for the many clubs and groups that use it on a weekly basis.”

Cllr Hogg also thanked contractors, Martin Contracts, and Robert Logan Architects for their work on the extension and refurbishment project.
