Mayor rubbishes black bin collection reports

Councillor George Duddy dismissed the rumours and also encouraged residents to use their blue bins and the civic amenity sites for recycling.

Councillor Duddy said: “Coleraine Borough Council is dedicated to reducing landfill and in doing so is continually exploring new opportunities to aid this process.

“In doing so Council is first and foremost concerned with always providing an improved service to residents. Reports of black bin collections being reduced to once a month are utter rubbish!

“Council’s Environmental Services will continue to look at long term solutions to waste disposal. A pilot food caddy collection service has been introduced to 17,000 households in the borough as part of the ongoing innovation to reduce landfill and explore alternative uses for domestic waste.

“I would like to encourage residents to continue to recycle using their blue bin and at the Council’s Civic Amenity Sites to help reduce the amount of rate payers’ money that is used to send waste to landfill.”
