Mayor supports Volunteering in Ballymoney Borough

VOLUNTEER Now, the lead organisation for Volunteering in Northern Ireland has recognised Ballymoney Borough Council for its on-going support for volunteering across the Borough.

Councillor Evelyne Robinson, Mayor of Ballymoney Borough Council said:“Volunteers make a great contribution to community life in the area.

“They enable many groups to deliver valuable services and help make our community a better place to live. We are delighted to endorse their work and the positive impact they make.”

Wendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now said: “We have received a most positive response from councils across Northern Ireland. As part of the legacy of the European Year of Volunteering 2011, we are delighted that Ballymoney Borough Council has continued to endorse the important role that volunteers make in their community in valuing the positive contribution made by volunteers to creating a vibrant community life and recognising that such civic engagement empowers individuals and develops communities.”

Paul Dinsmore from Volunteer Now presented the Mayor with a certificate at Riada House with Liz Johnston, whom the Mayor said was a prime mover in the support for volunteering, also in attendance.
