Mayor takes the ice bucket challenge

Mayor of Limavady Alan Robinson has joined other notable people such as Justin Timberlake and Gregory Campbell to take part in the charity ‘ice bucket challenge’ sweeping the internet.

The simple idea behind the ice bucket challenge is that participants dump a bucket of ice-cold water over their heads - all on camera - in aid of a good cause.

Alan Robinson went ahead with it, in aid of cancer research, after being nominated by Londonderry community worker Graeme Warke. Another to have taken on the challenge after a nomination from Graeme is East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell.

The Limavady Mayor said: “It was Graeme Warke from the Fountain Estate who nominated me. Graeme being Graeme, he ground me down with texts, emails, private messages and phone calls. Eventually I succumbed to Graeme’s pressure.

“It’s one in a long line of things I’ve had to do like that in aid of a good cause - from dressing up as a woman to this.”

Mr Robinson joked: “I think there were a few people a bit disturbed that day.” He continued: “It is all in a good cause so I was happy to do it.”
