Mayor warns about phone scam

Speaking this weekend, councillor Duddy explained: “I have been contacted by a number of constituents who sadly have been caught out by this telephone scam.

“The caller claims to be from BT, SKY, Virgin, advising the householder that their modem is defective.

“The caller then asks the user to log onto a site, which will give them remote access to their computer - enabling the caller access to bank details and personal information.

“I am just asking members of the public to be aware of this.”
