Mayor welcomes Singapore High Commissioner

The Mayor Martin Reilly welcomed the Singapore High Commissioner, T Jasudasen, during a visit to the city this week.

The visit was arranged to continue the city’s positive working relationship with Singapore which were first initiated when a delegation led by the Mayor met with the Singapore High Commissioner at the Clipper Race Start in London. Mayor Martin Reilly then visited Singapore as part of the Clipper race stop over and took part in a number of engagements supported by the High Commission in London.

Mr Reilly said he was delighted to welcome the High Commissioner to the city and to continue working with him to build on the positive links that have been developed.

He said the Singapore High Commissioner was very positive about the links with Londonderry saying he intends to bring a delegation of fellow commissioners and ambassadors to Londonderry in the near future to look at opportunities for tourism and economic development.

“This was a very worthwhile visit and a great opportunity for us to build on the relationships already put in place with stakeholders in Singapore. I am confident that this relationship will develop further and we can continue to forge important tourism and economic links with Sinagpore.

“This demonstrates the real working relationships that our involvement in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race has enabled has to foster,” he said.
