Mayor will host reception foryoung American visitors

Mid and East Antrim mayor Councillor Audrey Wales will host a visit by 36 American teenagers on Friday.

A reception will take place at the Larne Parlour.

The group is visiting as part of a “Sister City” twinning project.

They are students at Belton Honea Path High School Anderson, in South Carolina.

They are on a visit to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Their itinerary will include a visit to Carrick where they are expected to tour the castle and local library as Carrick is Anderson’s “Sister City”.

Carrick is also twinned with Danville in Kentucky.

Larne is twinned with the South Carolina town of Clover and Ballymena’s “Sister City” is Moorehead in Kentucky.

Belton Honea Path High School has an enrolment of 1100 pupils. It is a comprehensive, co-educational school. Extra-curricular activities include marching band, athletics and “Future Farmer of America” programme.
