Mayor’s cheque boost for Larne Adult Centre

The Mayor of Larne, Councillor Bobby McKee, was pleased to present a cheque for £1733.75 – mainly raised through his recent charity breakfast – to Larne Adult Centre.

Councillor McKee was delighted with the amount received and would like to thank all those who attended or made donations for their generosity.

In particular he thanked those visitors who contributed at his Christmas event, along with those who contributed to the significant donation of £782.50 received from attendees at the Larne Sports Awards dinner.

In addition, there were contributions from members of the Haven Fellowship who visited the Mayor’s Parlour in the past few weeks and from individuals who could not be present at the breakfast event.

Austin Heatley of the Friends of Larne Adult Centre said: “We were most pleasantly surprised to receive this cheque from the Mayor.

“We were tentatively looking at an exciting programme of personal development for members and now this unexpected windfall will go a long way to helping us realise our ambitions.

“The Mayor has been a staunch supporter of the entre and this is just one example of his community leadership.

“On behalf of the members, I’d like to extend a great big thank you,,” Mr Heatley added.
