MBEs for local trio in New Year honours

Three locals have been rewarded for their contributions to the community in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.

Dromore’s William Patterson, Banbridge man William Greer and Rathfriland woman Roisin Goodwin were all awarded with MBEs in the New Year honours, which were announced last week.

William Patterson, the Chair of the Board of Governors of both Dromore Central Primary School and Dromore High School was included in the list, awarded an MBE for his services to education in Northern Ireland.

Banbridge man William James Greer was also awarded with an MBE. He’s the Head at the South Eastern Regional College and he too was awarded for his services to education in Northern Ireland.

Rathfriland woman Roisin Goodwin has also been bewstowed with an MBE. Roisin is the Research and Development Budget and Compliance Manager at Invest NI and has been honoured due to her services to research and development.

The trio were three of more than 80 people in Northern Ireland who were given awards in the Queen’s New Year Honours List for 2015, an impressive total for the country.
