McAllister thanks Roads Service

SINN Féin Glens councilor Noreen McAllister would like to take this opportunity to thank Roads Service for the much needed work to deal with flooding on the Garron Road, Glenariffe.

The councillor said: “I was contacted by several constituents in Glenariffe who had grave concern about the danger of this part of the road as its used everyday for the school run, people going to the village and others travelling to work.

“This particular part of the road, which is just past a lay-by, was very dangerous as the water was pouring down the mountain and onto the road as the drain was badly blocked with debris etc.

“After going out and examining it myself I then realised that it was blocked with more than debris and seen for myself the danger as half of this road was completely flooded and cars were coming upon this and had to swerve to the other side of the road onto oncoming traffic which was dangering lives.

“I phoned Roads Service and made them aware of this and they came out and put warning signs up and started work on it right away. They spent several days clearing it and brought in the necessary vehicles and equipment to make this road safe.

“Thankfully, the work was successful and the road is safe for the people to use. After work was complete i was contacted by some of the community to ask me to pass on their thanks to road service, so on behalf of the residents and myself I would like to thank all involved in working to make this road safe.”
