McCrea Welcomes establishment of Rural Crime Unit

DUP Member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board, Ian McCrea MLA has welcomed the news that a new dedicated PSNI unit to tackle rural crime is to be formed. This is something which the DUP has called for inside the board.

Ian McCrea MLA said, “As a representative of a rural constituency I am keenly aware of the problem of rural crime, whether it be theft, damage to property or other associated crimes, this is a major problem in our rural communities.

“The DUP in the Policing Board has called for PSNI action to tackle this scourge. We are pleased therefore by the announcement of the establishment of a Rural Crime Unit inside the PSNI.

“This development will come as welcome news to the organisations like the Ulster Farmer’s Union who have been campaigning on this issue for a long time. I hope that the new unit will bring many benefits to our rural communities and I look forward to working closely with all those involved over the coming months and years”, said the DUP MLA.
