Councillor McFalone said: “As I have raised the need for a pedestrian crossing with the Department on previous occasions regarding this particular busy stretch of road network on Church Street, I am delighted that all works are now complete. This was long overdue and is very welcome news for everyone in our community.

“The crossing will make a really positive contribution to community safety, helping everyone to cross from the large public car park in a safe manner. It will assist older people with mobility issues and mothers with young children.

“I am pleased to have strongly campaigned in support of our community’s call for the crossing.

“This is a very welcome development but motorists also have an important role to play in terms of helping improve road safety conditions. I am appealing to all drivers to reduce their speed in the vicinity of the Medical Centre and Library.
