McKay welcomes online provision to check planning applications

NORTH Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has welcomed the continued rollout of an online Planning Service provision for the general public.

The electronic Planning Information for the Citizen (ePIC) system will provide easier access to planning information for Planning Service customers.

People who want to keep updated about planning applications in Ballymena will be able to access this information online from October 25.

Mr McKay said: “Constituents have often complained to elected representatives in the past about the inconvenience of trying to find out what the latest news is on planning applications they have submitted.

“This new system will provide easier access to planning information for Planning Service customers and will be up and running for Ballymena and Coleraine Planning Service customers by the middle of November.

“When the new computer system is fully implemented by the end of the year planning service applicants will be able to submit and pay for planning applications, provide supporting documentation and track their applications online.

“This initiative is to be very much welcomed and will help the Planning Service become more transparent and open than it already is, as well as being a significant improvement in terms of customer service,” he said.
