McKillop promotes voice of seniors

MOYLE TUV councillor Sharon McKillop has called for a strong and focussed group to be the voice of senior citizens in the district.

Cllr Sharon McKillop said: “I was delighted to be asked to help facilitate a meeting on behalf of Rural Senior Citizens from Moyle and Ballymoney borough with North Antrim Community Network and Collaborative NI recently in Bushmills Community Centre.

“The meeting I hope will provide a solid foundation for the Rural Senior Citizens to move forward as a strong and focused group, with the help they require to see their projects reach successful conclusions.

“Rural Senior Citizens face difficulties that are not faced by those residing in towns such as access to transport and being able to socialise with their friends and neighbours. Therefore this was an opportunity for them to engage with NACN and Collaborative NI which would put them in a better position to lobby and achieve their project goals.

“Strong and active community groups should be placed at the heart of our communities and I feel it is my duty to help them grow.”
