McKillop reacts to primary school draft plans

TUV councillor Sharon McKillop has responded to the NEELB’s Draft Plan for Moyle area.

“The draft area plan proposals by NEELB have raised significant questions over the future of rural primary schools which are crucial in sparsely populated areas such as those within Moyle Council areas,” she said.

“I would urge all primary schools to engage in the consultation exercise and make the case for their schools. Nine out of the 14 primary schools in the area fall below the enrolment threshold of 105 pupils and it should be noted that all schools within the area are operating within their budget.

“Rural Primary Schools are the heartbeat of the community and as such should be protected.”
