McKillop selected for SDLP

SDLP Moyle Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop has been chosen by the party as its Westminster candidate for the East Antrim constituency.

Cllr McKillop was ratified by party colleagues at the official opening of the new SDLP North and East Antrim office in Cushendall attended by party Environment Minister Mark H Durkan.

She said: “I want to be a new voice for this area that serves the common good by helping make decisions and giving leadership. We must ensure that we can take the local issues that matter most to the people of East Antrim and have them heard and championed. But they must be championed under the banner of a shared and reconciled society where we have respect for one another in a practical way.”

Mark H Durkan added: “We have high hopes for Margaret Anne and I have no doubt that she’ll be the hardest working candidate in that constituency over the coming months.”
