McLaughlin secures Roads Service approval for footpath

Mr McLaughlin said: “This has now been added to a list of schemes in the borough and will be developed in accordance with current policy and procedure.

“It is a busy area of the Ballyveely Road, which is now an arterial route to and from the village and beyond.

“This stretch of road is not only used by people out for an occasional stroll, but is used by vast amounts of children on their way to the GAA pitch.

“With the volume of traffic also using this stretch, which includes HGV’s and is the main route for a local coach company, the safety of our children is paramount, and so after negotiating with Roads Service for a number of years on this issue, even before I entered council, I and other residents are now glad that the proper decision has been reached and again I would like to stress my thanks to Roads Service on their approval.”

Cllr McLaughlin concluded by saying:

“No immediate plans have been put in place yet for the work to commence as prioritisation will take account of future funding availability, but with it now on roads service agenda we look forward to the commencement of the project in the near future.”
