McPeake welcomes Roads Service commitment

SINN Fein chairman of Magherafelt District Council, Sean McPeake has welcomed the commitment of Roads Service to up-grade footpaths and the roadway in Mullaghbuoy Crescent in the town.

“This is something which both myself and colleague Peter Bateson had been seeking for some time and we are delighted to get the commitment from Roads Service for the works to begin shortly,” he told representatives of Roads Service at the monthly meeting of the council.

“In addition to the traffic calming measures planned for Queens Avenue, the residents of the Brambles are also seeking Traffic Calming measures within their estate.

“A substantial petition, signed by the residents in support of the proposals, has been collected and presented to Roads Service. I would hope that Roads Service gives the proposals the due consideration they deserve.

“I also highlighted to Roads Service the issue of some developments within Magherafelt Town not being completed to an acceptable and agreed standard.

“In some instances roadways, footpaths, roundabouts etc are not completed properly and those residents living within these areas have to endure these unacceptable situations for many years. Roads Service need to be ensuring that these developers fulfill their obligations so that those home owners who have paid for their homes get the service they deserve.”
