McQuillan refutes 'sectarian' claims

Mr McQullan said there was no evidential basis of the claims made by MLA Billy Leonard who, in last week’s Times, called for more comunity leaders to show leadership over the issue.

“I have been to visit the premises in question three times as there is no proof of a sectarian slant to these at this stage.

“I have condemned these attacks and given off to the police to do something about them.

“It all comes down to the policing in the town and the lack of numbers to deal with anti-social behaviour.

“Drink is often the cause of these incidents and the town is often left with just two or three officers to deal with the trouble and that is not enough.”
